Style icon Dolly Parton is telling the inside story of her fashion journey.
Not only is Dolly Parton one of the greatest songwriters in the history of America—and more recently, one of its foremost advocates for childhood literacy—she has also been one of its true style icons. From her classic, over-the-top signature rhinestone look to otherworldly Xanadu couture to her latest (and incredible) shattered-glass mosaic bodysuit, Dolly has always had the swaggering self-confidence to pull off whatever look she so chooses.
Dolly’s many looks are so iconic that I’d wager—with the possible exception of Cher—she’s the single most influential American performer when it comes to drag shows (actually, it would be nice to see Dolly get a little more vocal about the ongoing criminalization of trans life).
